We loved everything about Royalton Riviera except for the steakhouse. We liked all of the food that we tried but the ribeye steaks were thin, fatty and chewy. They also tasted like they were microwaved and not cooked over a flame.

I was very happy when booking this property because i booked a luxury suite with jacuzzi on the terrace. This is the only reason i booked this hotel. I arrived at the hotel at 7am. Was provided my room key bracelets and told to come back at 3pm because that’s when check in was. Which was understandable but being that i was already given my key bracelet i assumed all they had to do was clean my room and it was waiting for me. I come back during check in hours and was told my room wasn’t ready and to come back in an hour, when i come back in that hour my room still isn’t ready. So i then come back at 5pm and was told my room was given away. They told me they were going to upgrade my husband and I to a luxury suite on the all adult side. I did not want the suite because it wasn’t comparable to what i asked for. It didn’t have the jacuzzi and the supervisor told me that it did. It also smelled like mildew so bad and had mildew on all the mirrors. Tried to take a bath to relax but the water was yellow eeewwwww. So i complain about the supposed “upgrade” and they say they are going to accommodate me the following night to the room that i actually booked. I went down to front desk at 1pm the next day and they say the room isn’t ready. I had an excursion to go on so the room not being ready until 3pm was fine. We get back from the excursion around 6pm and was told that our room was given away AGAIN!!!! So we have to stay another night in the mildewed room. We were never accommodated.

The resort has a great view and it’s large. Half of the staff was very friendly and the other half was very rude. When we checked in, the man that helped us was very rude and dismissive. He wrote down the wrong number on my check in and wasn’t even apologetic about it. My room was in the last building all the way to the end, so I went all the way down there to be given the wrong room. Had to walk all the way back to the lobby and then took my own suitcase all the way to my room which again, is at the end of the property. My room was nice and everything worked, and I ended up having the nicest room out the group of us. Service in restaurants was average or below average. Anytime we called to request something, they never sent it up. It was my birthday and my sister ordered a cake for me and they just never brought me one. Our friends also called for robes multiple times and never got any. I ordered room service one time as a midday snack before dinner and it took over an hour to arrive. We also all booked rooms with ocean views and barely got an ocean view at all. Their massages were below average for the price, and the staff wasn’t very friendly in their spa either. My masseuse was eating candy during my massage and kept throwing the bottle of oil between my legs. Their gym is very nice and has ample equipment for great workouts. Food in their Agave restaurant was great! Stay was average and they could use many improvements.

My wife & I's 6th time in Mexico, this was by far the worst trip. We love coming so we kept talking up how great the resorts are to our friends. We decided to try a new place & we were so disappointed. The staff was very rude/not helpful at all. The front desk did not explain anything whatsoever. Apparently if you book with expedia you get 1st priority to dinner reservations & access to the other property "hideaway". We waited for reservations every night because we were not aware & sometimes to get a reservation we had to buy a bottle of wine or a lobster tail they said at the restaurant, this is not our idea of "all inclusive" even some of the cabanas they had you pay for by the pool ($150 champagne) to get it. Front desk guy also gave us the wrong room # & someone was in the room he gave us, after walking all the way back to front desk he didn't even apologize. The only nice employees that made this trip somewhat enjoyable were Jose at Agave restaurant & Orlando at the breakfast buffet. The best part was we would ask for salt/pepper & after waiting 10 minutes they told us they didnt have any after we kindly asked one more time. Most the employees are lazy & just do the bare minimum. They could not even complete simple tasks. They would say they were out of forks & just leave. The bath tub in our room was ready to flip over and the door to the balcony was almost falling off the wall. Resort bathrooms were dirty. Countless more issues but no more room to write.

Went for Valentine’s Day, the service was poor. They were not attentive to our needs. There were charges to my card that I did not have. Not all bad, the buffet and swim out bars were okay. I do not recommend, for the price!

The hotel was amazing! The staff and service on the other hand, was pretty disappointing. When we got to our room, we noticed that there were no robes or slippers as advertised and we called to see if they could send us some and they said yes… they never showed up. After spending our first night there we were expecting our rooms to be cleaned and to have clean towels. The only thing that was made was the bed. We had no towels. We called and to our surprise, we WAITED almost 2 hours for towels which took time away from being around the resort. My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon which we were really not expecting anything special since we never mentioned it prior checking in. Around the hotel, the staff is CONSTANTLY asking you where you’re coming from and what were we celebrating. We took that chance to tell everyone that we were celebrating our honeymoon. (Since they all were asking) and they made SO many promises to us. Supposedly we were going to get a wine bottle sent up to our room, have a little surprise in our room and supposedly they decorated it too. We had none of that. We weren’t so mad about it because we weren’t expecting anything since the beginning but they hyped it up so much and made us very excited that we got a little disappointed when we never received anything. Another thing was that we had ordered breakfast for room service and IT NEVER SHOWED UP! We kept called and staff would just say that they would look in to it. Don’t depend on the staff
